Dancing over eight years, Ms. Costa is the Director of Fringe Benefit, an American Tribal Style/Fusion Belly Dance Troupe from Central New Jersey. In July 2009 she received Certification in the ATS Format from Carolena Nericcio, Founder of the ATS movement. This unique Tribal troupe performs both the pure ATS format, as well as adding new Fusion forms of Flamenco, Indian, Egyptian, Turkish, African, Fusion and a little bit of hip hop. Known for their eclectic style and sense of fun, all the women of Fringe Benefit love to share their passion for the dance with everyone.
ATS was started in San Francisco. This thoroughly modern form of dance that takes the best parts of Middle Easter Dance, or Oriental Dance adding its own unique twist to the art form. Unlike other forms of belly dance ATS has an improvisational format based on ques and transitions, where two or more dancers perform together with a chorus line of other dancers in the background. The style is more grounded and earthly, with a graceful flow that embraces all women.
Please check www.fringebenefitbellydance.com for their upcoming schedule of performances, or e-mail Kimberly for more information. |
